SUNTRUST EMBRACES 2009 KALAYAAN FESTIVAL

Two-part Kalayaan Festival sealed the solid partnership of Cavite provincial government and Suntrust Properties, Inc. as the latter sponsored Cavite’s program initiated by Gov. Erineo ‘Ayong’ S. Maliksi  in celebrating the country’s 111th Independence Day through two weeks of events and festivities.

First part held last May 28 was dubbed as Wagayway Festival in celebration of the Philippine Flag Day. Caviteños displayed nationalism throughout the motorcade which commenced at SM Bacoor and concluded at SM Palapala.

Second part was on June 12 which highlighted the simultaneous raising of the Philippine Flag nationwide at exactly 8AM. The ceremony was made in commemoration of the historic raising of the Philippine Flag on June 12, 1898 led by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo. This year’s celebration was led by Cavite Centennial Governor, Sen. Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr. at the exact place where our sovereignty was officially declared. Gov. Maliksi on the other hand embarked on modern revolution and Filipinos’ patriotism and vigilance against negative aspects of the society.

A presentation entitled Caviteño: Katipunero crafted by award winning director Francis Jun Posadas and with special participation of actor John Regala wowed the audience and fired-up everyone’s patriotism.  

Before the day ended, AVP for Marketing and Training Jerry R. Rubis received a plaque of appreciation and recognition in behalf of Suntrust Properties, Inc. for the full support and cooperation to the local government of Cavite.
