SUNTRUST GOES GREEN

Armed with shovels and seedlings, Suntrustees rushed early in the morning to The Gentri Heights in General Trias, Cavite for a Grand Tree Planting activity last April 18, marking the inauguration of a new flora nursery site.

The occasion was highlighted by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between DENR-Cavite represented by Mr. Eriberto B. Saños, side by side with the Provincial Government of Cavite Governor Ayong Maliksi, and Suntrust Properties, Inc. headed by Atty. Harrison Paltongan. The agreement is inked to strongly support the projects of Cavite’s Corporate Social Responsibility Council, a part of which mandates the enhancement of vegetation and environmental protection within the subdivision project.

“We have to be a part of environmental enhancement …ang kalikasan ay kasama sa vision ng kumpanya,” stressed Paltongan whose endeavor is to provide families with energy-saving homes through this reforestation collaboration, one of the company’s corporate social responsibility programs.

The MOA is part of CENRO’s reforestation campaign for the development of natural resources through the establishment and maintenance of nurseries for seedling propagation. They supply the seeds, provide technical assistance, and monitor the progress of the seedling production, while Suntrust gains priority in the free use of the seeds for tree planting activities in its various projects.

DENR-CENRO Officer Eriberto Saños, also known as the acclaimed “Makata ng Cavite” amused the audience with anecdotes relating nature to history, religion, culture, and the society.
